USEFUL AUTOMOTIVE AUCTION INFORMATION
“For even more automotive auction information” please go to the links found on the main auction page here
The vehicles: Most times vehicles are driven through the auction lanes and are auctioned in the order they appear in the (lane appropriate) auction catalogue. Each vehicle is checked against the personal property register [PPSR] to ensure the vehicle does not have any money owing on it.
What is a reserve price?: The reserve is the seller’s expectation of price. The reserve price is not made public and not all vehicles have a reserve.
Auction outcome: The auction will continue until the item is sold, referred or passed in.
SOLD is identified by the fall of the auctioneer’s hammer
Referred: This occurs when the reserve price is not met. If you are the last bidder on a referred item, the auctioneer will ask you for your buyer number and for you to make your way to the auctioneer’s stand as the seller may be willing to negotiate. DABAS can assist you with this stage if needed. A vehicle will be PASSED IN if there is no bid. You can make on offer on some of the vehicles passed in.
Unregistered vehicles?: “It is illegal to drive an unregistered vehicle”. You can obtain an unregistered vehicle permit, if required on your lot number, through any Vic Roads office or online at Vic Roads, and most of the auction-house sites’ customer service areas.
LOG BOOKS AND ACCESSORIES: For your purchased vehicle. [If available with your purchase] on the day of auction DABAS can assist you to the Auction house’s customer service area and help you collect any log books or accessories that have been described as coming with your vehicle in the catalogue.
